About Warli Art

Warli Art is one of India’s most recognized tribal painting traditions, closely associated with the Warli communities of Maharashtra. Practiced through generations, it grew from everyday village life, where walls became a surface for ceremony, celebration, and shared memory.

What makes Warli distinct is its simplicity. Instead of dense ornament or bright color, it relies on white forms placed against earthy backgrounds, creating a visual style that feels direct, symbolic, and deeply connected to the land. Human figures, animals, trees, farming scenes, and communal dances all come together through geometric structure and clean visual rhythm.

Its roots are closely tied to ritual and seasonal life.
